A Great Start to the 2010 Championship Year
The team had a great start to the 2010 Championship year, starting at Winton on the weekend of 6-7 March.
Ken Price, in the MGTF Cup, won his class and finished second outright for the weekend, ahead of all the V8 MGB’s, while new team driver Matt Baragwanath, in the familiar light blue Historic 4 cylinder MGB, also won his class. Both drivers set new benchmark lap times for their respective classes. Peter Sortwell rented the black MGF Trophy 160 for the weekend because the engine in his own MGB wasn’t ready, and he steadily improved during the weekend, with a fine drive in the wet Sunday morning race.
Next outing for the Championship will be at Phillip Island on 17-18 April, when we look forward to welcoming Trent Price back in his rebuilt and updated green MGF. Trent was unfortunate enough to suffer a broken arm prior to the season opener, and should be recovered by then. Reigning Victorian Hillclimb Champion Andrew Howell will also be joining the team in one of the rental MGF’s while he gets a few signatures on his racing licence. Let’s hope that the weather this year will be kinder than last year when the last race had to be cancelled because of torrential rain.
