My MG Racing Experience.
My normal race car was not available so decided to hire a drive from THE MG RACING EXPERIENCE.
It was great not to have to worry about being one’s mechanic , manager, and all those other things involved when racing.
Turn up at the circuit with your racing apparel and just race, everything else provided.
Great cars, good people and no worries.

Over the last few years, since retiring, we have continued to be quite active in Motor sport. In 2006, we came a close second Torana (out of 12) in the 06 HTCAV State Championship and fourth in the Championship overall and third Torana in the difficult Biante Series race at Bathurst that year. In 2007, we developed an XU1 from scratch for tarmac rallying to be competitive in Early Classic and took part in eight events including 12th in Classic Adelaide in 08.
In 2008 we no longer owned a race car, so we decided to start renting the MGF a few times to keep my International Historic licence current - just in case.
I'd have to say that the MG Experience was fantastic - and for far more than a couple of 'signatures'. It took a while to adjust to the car, which was very different to the Torana or the Big Healey. But I was soon performing competitively among the other MG's ancient and modern. And the last race at Sandown, when the road tyre shod MGF (faster through the fast corners) battled all race with a slick shod Midget (faster in the tight corners) being very well driven by a young bloke, was possibly the purest motor racing enjoyment I have had for many years.
Since I have always found the preparation of my racecar to be very stressful, and the source of a lot of tension, to be relieved of that burden and just turn up with helmet was a real pleasure. The MGF was always well prepared, with fresh tyres ready to go. Everyone welcomed me in a very hospitable and friendly fashion (love the Bus) and even when the inevitable breakdown came, a huge effort was made to get me going to the last race to get my 'signature'. And the whole experience is without doubt the best value way of going racing.
My renewed H1 licence is now here and I have to decide whether I really need to renew it for another year.
Logic says no.
But the deep desire to crack 2 minutes at the Island in the little red car won't go away.
All the best

I am 19 years old and I am competing in the 2009 MG Car Club Victoria club competition year in the black MG Racing Experience MGF. Competition events so far have included Winton sprints, Geelong motorkhana, Haunted Hills hill climb, Rob Roy Autocross and an OST (Observed section trial). This is a real challenge for the MG Racing Experience team to prepare a car for such a variety of events, from tarmac to dirt to mud and back to tarmac, but the car has always performed at it’s peak for each event. I am currently winning the youth class, but there are still 5 events to go till the end of the season. This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBWHm0Q37D4 is me competing at the OST. The object of the event is to get past as many flags without hitting them while continuing in a forward direction. You score the number on the last flag that you passed. The course is typically steep, tight, winds around obstacles, is muddy & very slippery.
I am very grateful to Ken and the MG Racing Experience team for the opportunity to compete in one of the MGF’s this year. It has been a great experience and has allowed me to hone my driving skills behind the wheel of a real race car.

Having not raced for a few years, I needed to do a race meeting to retain my CAMS licence, so I leased a car from the MG Racing Experience for a meeting at Phillip Island. The team were great. The car was ready for me when I arrived on the Friday for practice, and they, and the whole MG racing group made me feel right at home. The team worked very hard to overcome some minor technical glitches and ensure that I always made the track for each event. On track, I had some good racing with the other MG’s around me, and I was so enthused that I went out and purchased a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car and am now racing in the GT3 Challenge series. I would recommend the MGRE to anyone.
