The cars
What's an MGF?
The MGF is a fantastic car to race, with excellent handling and extremely good brakes. Drivers who have competed in these cars have commented how quickly they have settled in to the cars and become quite comfortable pushing them to the limit.
The cars are all competitive within their class in the MG racing series, and all have scored podium placings at various times. Lap times achieved by some of these cars are around 2.01 secs at Phillip Is. 1.32 secs at Sandown etc.
Our rental fleet consists exclusively of the MGF.
Manufactured by MG Rover from 1995 to 2004, Very quickly, the MGF was in demand for competition use, and dedicated series of racing events were conducted around the world, in the UK, Japan, Europe, South Africa and Australia. MG Rover Sports and Racing built a large number of cars especially for competition, the ultimate of these being the MGF Cup car, an example of which is part of The MG Racing Experience stable, being raced by Ken Price.
Each one has been race prepared, and features
- a 1796cc twin cam all alloy K series engine, the design concept of which is similar to the Cosworth Indy car engines, with modifications to increase power
- a Honda inspired 5 speed gearbox with limited slip differential
- the powertrain is mid mounted behind the driver
- Fully independent Hydragas / Bilstein suspension
- Powerful huge 4 spot disc brakes
- Modified wheels with Bridgestone RE55 tyres.
- CAMS approved roll over protection and mandatory safety features.

These cars are also our personal racecars - these aren't just roughies thrown together to hire out, they are tended with care. Some of the cars have hardtops, which can be removed if you prefer to race an open car.
